WINDOURS
(Saint Petersburg, Russia)
WindOurs is a documentary theater performance inspired by a sociological study of the newly built Northern Valley development. It is based on official documents, articles in the media, and research interviews, as well as neighbors’ debates on social media. The performance’s protagonists – urbanists, developers, and residents of new apartment buildings – tell their stories about Northern Valley. A simple request for help finding a lost cat turns into a reflection on everyday life in new developments, on their problems, potential, fears, and futures. The windows of one of Northern Valley’s apartment buildings serve as a stage, and viewers can watch the action from its courtyard.
Liubov Chernysheva creates art projects that draw on data gathered through her sociological research into urban conflicts, grassroots initiatives, newly built developments, and different forms of neighborship.
